TB starts their 5 day break tomorrow. Maybe good for us. And Girardi is probably in.

It will be an interesting game. Flames should be pretty pumped to show that they are not push overs.

If they get blown out might not be a bad thing to show them they have work to do.

I think the Flames should start Rittich for this game. Give Smith a rest until tomorrow's game. If we can pull one out with Rittich in net - Bonus!. If not - well we didn't really expect to win anyway. However - we EXPECT to win against Florida tomorrow.

I don’t think the Flames have that kind of attitude toward winning. I believe they expect to win every game and won’t throw in the backup in a game against the best team in the league.

Kind of a loser attitude to have if they come in thinking “oh well, we weren’t gonna win anyways, might as well play the backup”

That said, I don’t expect the Flames to win.

“I think we’re getting there. I think we’re getting closer. I think the biggest problem a team like Calgary has and Treliving has is you want to make a deal where you don’t rob yourself. Like what happens if you trade say a defenseman for a winger, and he doesn’t think his defense is as good. I think that’s his biggest problem.

I know we don’t need another LW but since the beginning of the season I don’t recall one rumor where we were targeting an RW. It appears to me that flames Management has confidence to potentially shift someone to the right side.

So of the players that the flames have apparently shown interest in:

Matt Duchene (C, LW)
Kyle Turris (C)
Mike Hoffman (C, LW)
Zack Smith (C, LW)
Evander Kane (LW)
Max Pacioretty (LW)

So last 2 games we have had scouts at the leafs game. This is obliviously debatable, if we we’re scouting Ottawa or Columbus and odds are it is Ottawa. As many have mentioned on here Stone would be the ultimate prize, however by all accounts Ottawa is not trading him.

Toronto however is looking for a defencemen who’s preferably a right handed shot.

I wonder if a deal for JVR could be struck assuming he removed us from his no trade list if that is in fact true.

Brodie for JVR? (Seems early similar to the Larson for Hall trade. Brodie has a great contract and despite all the criticism he gets he’s still a very good defenceman)

Preferably Stone and say Fox for JVR but I don’t think that Toronto wouldn’t be interested. I prefer not to go after rentals like everyone else, but I have confidence that if a deal could be struck that BT would do his best to keep him around.

Johnny, Money, Ferland
JVR, Backlund, Tkachuk
Bennett, Jankowski, Hath
Versteeg, Brouwer Frolik

Flames go up 2-0 in the first 10 minutes on goals by Brouwer and Stajan. TB ties it on 2 shorties in the final 5 minutes of the third. Dougie Hamilton is the lone scorer in the shootout. Final: 3-2 Flames.

Tre seems to talk to everyone on everybody available & the rumour media hounds spin it. But Tre is getting intel as to what the ask is for many players so he can properly price any trade-able assets. Smart business.
As for JVR, why would you give Brodie or a potential stud D like Fox for a UFA?
Have no idea why Ek would have us involved with Pacs, why? We injected youth into our lineup & suddenly we are winning & playing some of our best hockey of the year.
Toronto would love to get someone like Brodie, but it will cost Toronto a young asset like Marner or Nylander & agreed, we would have to add. But I don't see that happening. I could see a Kylington for Kappanen type of scenario, now that makes way more sense, need for need, youth for youth & chances are Tre could get Leafs to even throw in a 2nd. I just don't see any of our top 4 D getting moved until the off season at the draft. This win streak has pretty well ensured we keep in the hunt until at least the TDL. JMO

They will be playing Rittich in one of the Florida games. Yes - they should be expecting to win every game. However, if they are being realistic with themselves, they know that this will be a hard game to win. Rittich would be playing under less pressure, and hence playing looser in tonight's game, than if he plays tomorrow's game.

I just have a hunch that GG might play Rittich tonight - and I think that would be a good move.

Dude. This is the biggest test they have so far this year. Gotta see if the team can man up. If Rittich can't get up for a game vs. Florida than he can GFH!

Why wouldn't Smith be motivated to beat his old team? And doesn't he have pretty much the best numbers in the league the past few weeks?

While I think the Flames might be better without Brodie, they better not trade him for an UFA.
